About this property

Welcome to Telegraph Cove Resort

Located on the scenic Telegraph Cove harbor, Telegraph Cove Resort offers eclectic harbourside accommodations set within a relaxed, seasonal resort environment. The property features a variety of informal dining options and provides free parking for guests. While Wi-Fi is available in common areas such as the lobby and general store, some cabins may have limited connectivity, reflecting the property's focus on reconnecting with nature.

Guests can expect comfortable spaces with practical amenities, including kitchens in many accommodations, which are well suited for families and longer stays. The resort is smoke-free and kid-friendly, although it does not offer a fitness center or pool. Reviewers often highlight the cozy, clean rooms and note that rates are reasonable given the remote location and quality of facilities, though hospitality experiences have varied.

Positioned 20 kilometers from Port McNeill Airport, the resort serves as a convenient base for exploring local attractions, including whale-watching tours operated directly on-site through Tide Rip Grizzly Tours. Nearby points of interest such as the Whale Interpretive Centre and U’mista Cultural Centre receive high praise from visitors. This makes the property appealing for travelers interested in marine wildlife, cultural experiences, and outdoor activities.

Set amidst a community still recovering from last year’s fires, Telegraph Cove Resort balances its rich historical charm with ongoing rebuilding efforts. The friendly yet modest service and informal dining venues reflect this authentic atmosphere. Guests looking for a tranquil, nature-focused stay with access to local tours and marine adventures will find this location a practical choice.

We stayed in Cabin 2 and it was a good fit for our family of 4. Nice little kitchen, good open living space. The bathroom is a bit small (but as advertised if you read the clearly noted details on their website). There was no WiFi service for the cabin, just free WiFi at the General Store area and the Lobby... but it was nice to reconnect as a family and with nature. We were very happy to come and support the resort during the rebuild after the late 2024 fires, they're doing a great job keeping it running and getting it back to tip top shape.

We absolutely loved our stay here and can’t wait to come back someday!! We stayed in a room for 2 with cooking facilities and it was lovely & cosy. If you are staying here you absolutely must try book a wildlife boat tour with Rolph from Vancouver Island Photo Tours - genuinely one of the best days of my life & just excellent!

Location is amazing, rooms are clean and new and quiet. The staff was ok, not super hospitable. Not as friendly as the rest of the island. Rates were reasonable. More expensive at home so we were happy. We planned to tent at the campground but it was a long wet day on the north island 1000 so we stayed here. Laundry facilities were nice.

A little slice of history with a lot of heart. Still bouncing back after last year’s devastating fire, the team here is working tirelessly to rebuild. Most cabins are already open, and the dockside rooms make a fantastic base to explore the area and discover the incredible marine life of the Johnstone Strait. The old general store is currently home to a cosy temporary café, serving a variety of hot drinks and tasty meals. Yes, prices are a touch higher than average, but the portions are generous, the quality is excellent, and every dollar helps fund the rebuilding efforts – so it feels good to spend it. We stayed in a dockside room that had everything we needed, including a well-equipped compact kitchen, a large fridge-freezer, and even a separate deep freezer – a real bonus if you’re here for fishing! Parking is free for guests, with paid parking available for others, and boat launches from their slip are just $10. This place is more than just accommodation – it’s part of a community working hard to bring something special back to life.

Had an RV. End of September so weather coming in. We stayed on the telegraph cove RV site on top of the hill behind the small charming quirky village and marina. Shame no view of the sea/lake as we thought. There is new housing that faces the water. Great base for booking whale watching and kayaking. Kayaking finished for the season though now.

So beautiful and everybody that I spoke to in town was lovely and working so hard to make it enjoyable. The young lady at the Whale Museum was so knowledgeable and gave us a lot of information on everything in there. And so sweet too!!

The Lodge was impressive; the room was extremely clean, had a spectacular view, and was breathtaking. I was so impressed with how the room was so clean and had a new bathroom, new bed, new mattress, very well-designed. Elena, the waitress at the restaurant "Killer Whale Cafe and Restaurant," where I had my dinner there, wrote a very nice review. I don't have enough words to express my gratitude to Elena for managing to have a room for me as the office was closed. The Lodge is located on top of Telegraph Cove. The view from the room was breathtaking. The lodge was built in 2018. I will highly recommend it. Thank you so much for the wonderful memories.
